Paul McCartney Is Working on Song About Brown, Garner Protests
Paul McCartney revealed in a recent interview that he has been working on a protest song in reaction to the widespread protests all over the country in reaction to the cases of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
The ex-Beatle spoke with the Associated Press about his interest in social causes and writing music that reflects the unrest of the era. He said he’s been trying to write a song about the current wave of protests to “add my voice to the thousands of people walking in the streets.”
“I thought it through and it just didn’t come easily,” McCartney said. “I’m not giving up on it, but it didn’t come easily, whereas some other emotions might come easily to me.”
Several artists have already released songs in reaction to Ferguson, including one by J. Cole, one by a score of big-name rap and hip-hop artists, and one by Nickelback.
