Pence Replaces Christie as Head of Trump’s White House Transition Team

PicMonkey Collage - christieVice President-elect Mike Pence will take over the responsibility of leading the White House transition team from Chris Christie.

The reshuffle is another blow to the embattled Garden State governor, who was once favored for the VP slot that Pence ultimately snagged when Trump bowed to party pressure.

Last week two of Christie’s  senior aides were found guilty of conspiracy and fraud in the Bridgegate trial. Christie himself was not charged, but prosecutors said during the trial that he had knowledge of the lane closures while they were occurring and produced evidence that his aides knew he had lied to the public about it. Christie has denied this.

The scandal has shadowed chatter about any possible role Christie might have in Trump’s White House.

Christie had led the transition team since May. He released a statement saying that he was proud to have managed the “pre-election phase” transition team, whom he praised for having “prepared an outstanding template.”
