Pentagon Admits It Accidentally Sent Live Anthrax to 9 States, U.S. Air Base

anthraxThe Pentagon admitted today that a DOD lab accidentally sent live anthrax samples to nine states, as well as a U.S. air based in South Korea.

Apparently there was an “inadvertent transfer of samples” to nine states. ABC News identifies those states as California, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Acting Pentagon Press Secretary Steve Warren wanted to make it incredibly clear, however, that there’s “no known risk to the general public” and so far, the DOD lab workers exposed to anthrax have not yet shown signs of infection.

The CDC is looking into the matter, and they explained the DOD lab had the samples in the first place “as part of a DOD effort to develop a new diagnostic test to identify biological threats.”
