Protesters Defy Baltimore Curfew in Tense Standoff with Police (UPDATED)

Baltimore protesters defied the 10 pm curfew tonight and remained on the street in a tense standoff with the police. The curfew, according to the Baltimore police, will be in effect until 5 am.

Some protesters threw items like glass bottles at the police as they advanced. At around 10:24, some protesters threw what were reported as smoke bombs into the crowd. The police responded with smoke canisters, pepper balls, and eventually tear gas to get the protesters to disperse.
