Rand Paul’s Son Pleads Guilty to Aggravated DUI

22-year-old William Paul pleaded guilty to an aggravated DUI charge in Lexington, Ky., and the reason we care is because his father, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), is currently running for president.

Back in April, Paul the Younger was arrested after crashing his car into a parked vehicle, and according to WKYT, “had a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and was belligerent.” Though he was not arrested, he was slapped with the aggravated DUI charge for refusing a blood alcohol test.

Young Paul was previously involved in two other alcohol-related incidents as an underage drinker in 2013: one citation for underage alcohol possession, and one dropped charge involving the assault of an airline attendant.

As it stands now, Paul will have his license suspended for 45 days until he completes mandatory alcohol education classes, and must pay $178 in court fees and fines.
