Following a speech to voters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney was asked whether he would have “gone after” Osama bin Laden, to which he responded defensively, “Of course. Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.”
Last week, President Obama released a web ad featuring former President Bill Clinton praising Obama’s handling of the operation that killed Osama bin Laden last year, suggesting that Romney would not have ordered the raid.
In the ad, Clinton speaks glowingly of President Obama‘s actions regarding bin Laden:
[Obama] reasoned, “I cannot, in good conscience, do nothing.” He took the harder, and the more honorable path. […] He had to decide. And that’s what you hire the president to do. You hire the president to make the calls when no one else can do it.”
The ad then asks: “Which path would Romney have taken?”
