Russia’s UK Embassy Mocks Chemical Attack Accusations: ‘We Definitely Need Poirot in Salisbury!’

With Russian and British relations on rocky terms due to the recent chemical attack on a former spy in the UK, the Ruskie embassy in London is back to their trolling ways, as they mocked those accusing them of being involved in the incident in a tweet today.

While the Russian embassy in UK has previously posted a Pepe the Frog meme and dropped Tom Clancy reference to make fun of those accusing the country of election tampering, they took the mockery up a notch by tweeting a photo of author Agatha Christie’s detective character Poirot, who is the focus of a long-running British mystery TV show, along with the claim that there is no “evidence” of Russians being involved in the attack.

“In absence of evidence, we definitely need Poirot in Salisbury!” The official account tweeted along with the photo of the television character.

Jokes aside, the attack caused America’s United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley to condemn Russia, as well as the expulsion of 23 of the nation’s diplomats from the UK. Russia responded to the removal of their officials by announcing an eye-for-an-eye policy, as they will be removing 23 British diplomats.

As for the embassy’s trolls, they have taken to online humor — or shitposting — to deflect from Russia’s 2016 US election controversies in the past.

“All ‘Russia investigations’ (not only in the U.S.) are destined to end,” tweeted the account earlier this month, which likened the House GOP’s investigation into Russian election tampering to a work by the foreign policy obsessed author Tom Clancy.

Additionally, the account attempted to fact-check a headline regarding the spy’s poisoning by tweeting that Sergei Skripal “was actually a British spy, working for MI6.”
