SC Republicans Really Don’t Want Lindsey Graham to be President

grahammainA new poll of South Carolina Republican primary voters finds that almost four-fifths want home state candidate Lindsey Graham to drop out of the presidential race.

The poll was conducted by Democratic-leaning polling firm Public Policy Polling (PPP). They found that 78% wanted Graham to drop out of the race, while only 15% wanted him in. Another 7% weren’t sure.

Graham polls poorly in the state in general among Republicans. PPP found him tied in eighth place in the presidential race with 3% of the vote, along with Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and Scott Walker. Only 36% approve of his job performance as Senator, while more than half disapprove.

Also struggling in the state: Bernie Sanders. Sanders nets only 9% of the Democratic primary vote, which PPP chalks up to his poor numbers among the African-American voters that make up a majority of the state’s Democratic electorate.
