Scarlett Johansson And Kerry Washington Reportedly Slated For ‘Surprise’ DNC Celebrity Speech

In what some might read as a Democratic response to Clint Eastwood‘s “invisible chair” speech last week, the Democratic National Convention will feature a “surprise” speech Thursday evening from actresses Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington, CNN reports.

The two starlets will appear in tandem some time before President Barack Obama officially accepts the Democratic nomination, and immediately following a performance by alt-rock band Foo Fighters.

Johansson is the critically-acclaimed star of films like Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring. Washington is the star of current ABC political thriller Scandal. Both were outspoken supporters of Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman was also rumored to make an appearance, but her reps have since squashed the rumor.
