Scarlett Johansson Calls Ivanka Trump ‘Cowardly’ After ‘Baffling’ Interview
Scarlett Johansson put Ivanka Trump on blast in an interview with Arianna Huffington at the Women in the World Summit in New York City on Thursday. During Trump’s recent interview with Gayle King, she said that most of her impact in her father’s administration won’t be vocal, but behind the scenes. She said, “That means that I’ll take hits from some critics who say that I should take to the streets and then other people will in, the long-term respect, where I get to.”
The award-winning actress wasn’t buying it. She described Trump’s interview as “baffling,” saying, “You can’t have it both ways, right? If you take a job as a public advocate, then you must advocate publicly, right?”
Johansson found Trump’s remarks about working behind the scenes particularly “disappointing,” and took issue with the antiquated idea that behind every great man there is a great woman. “How old-fashioned!” she said. “What about being in front of that person, or next to them, or standing on your own?”
“It’s so uninspired, and actually, I think really cowardly, and I was just so disappointed by that interview she gave yesterday.”
