Selma Stars, Director Will March in Selma for MLK Birthday

The stars and director of the movie Selma, about the iconic voting rights marches of 1965, will commemorate the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. by marching in Selma themselves this weekend.

Director Ava DuVernay will march with David Oyelowo (who plays King in the movie), Common (another cast member who won a Golden Globe for the film’s song “Glory”), and Oprah Winfrey (who both produced and stars in the film), along with the other producers of the movie.

The march will be held on Sunday, after a Q&A session moderated by Congresswoman Terri Sewell. The film will then be screened after the commemorative march.

Selma did not receive as many Oscar nominations yesterday as expected, leading many to cry foul and say the film was snubbed.
