Snowden Breaks Silence From Moscow, Threatens New Disclosures About U.S. National Security

 

Following the news that National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden has sought political asylum in Russia, the former national security contractor broke his self-imposed silence of more than a week to threaten new disclosures about American intelligence gathering methods and practices. In an unreleased letter obtained by Reuters, Snowden said that he is free to make new disclosures about U.S. “spying activity.”

“In a letter to Ecuador seen by Reuters, Snowden said the United States was illegally persecuting him for revealing its electronic surveillance program, PRISM,” Reuters reported. “He also thanked Ecuador for helping him get to Russia and for examining his asylum request.”
