South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley Posts Major Twitter Fail
Today, Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) found out what can happen when you try to tweet an Instagram photo. Haley was heralding her state’s passage of an education reform bill that will give more funds to schools in poorer areas when she posted a photo to Instagram, which in turn went out on her official Twitter account.
Here’s what it looked like:

What she did not realize is that because captions can be longer than 140 characters on Instagram, once the caption ended up on Twitter it got cut off at what happened to be the worst possible point in the sentence.
The full message, which accompanied the photo below, read:
South Carolina made history this year by passing education reform. We will no longer educate children based on where they are born. Through reading coaches, technology investments, and expanding charter schools we just confirmed that we want our children to be the future workforce for our growing high tech jobs! #ItIsAGreatDayInSC
Haley’s team later deleted the misleading tweet and replaced it with something that better emphasized the point she was trying to make:
