‘Stop Making Excuses’: Al Franken Says Sessions Wasn’t Confused By His ‘Rambling Question’
At the beginning of his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee today, Attorney General Jeff Sessions delivered a statement where he said that the suggestion he was involved in any collusion with Russia was an “appalling and detestable lie.” On top of that, Sessions also claimed that during his confirmation hearing, he answered Sen. Al Franken’s “rambling question” about meetings with Russian officials honestly.
Well, following today’s hearing, Franken responded to Sessions calling him out during his testimony. And he let it be known that he didn’t believe that he was “confused” by his so-called “rambling question.”

Beyond saying he wasn’t confused, Franken also slammed Sessions for trying to “whitewash the fact that he misled the Senate Judiciary Committee” while under oath and only came back and changed the record after his meetings with the Russians were reported weeks later.
And, as can be seen above, Franken urged Sessions to “stop making excuses” and “speak honestly and openly” before the Senate.
Following the revelations that he met with Russian officials, contrary to his confirmation hearing testimony, Sessions recused himself from any investigations into President Donald Trump‘s campaign.
