Susan Collins Tells Wolf Blitzer She ‘May Go Through’ Ivanka Trump on Trump’s Mika Tweets
With today’s news cycle revolving around yet another inflammatory tweet sent out by the leader of the free world, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) was pushed during a CNN appearance today to expand on her thoughts on President Donald Trump’s Twitter attacks on MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski.
Earlier today, Collins sent out the following tweet in response:
This has to stop – we all have a job – 3 branches of gov’t and media. We don’t have to get along, but we must show respect and civility.
— Sen. Susan Collins (@SenatorCollins) June 29, 2017
She reiterated those remarks to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, pointing out how “that kind of language is inappropriate” and that it “simply has to stop.”
After telling Blitzer that she expected Trump to stop tweeting when he became president even though it was a well-known trait of his on the campaign trail, Collins then mentioned one tactic she may utilize to possibly get him to halt his tweeting.
“Well, I don’t know whether the president is really seeking my advice on this issue,” Collins stated. “I’m sure he is aware that I’m not happy about that kind of language. How could I possibly be? And I may go through his daughter with whom I have developed a relationship.”
So it appears that the moderate Maine lawmaker believes she can convince the president’s daughter to change her father’s habits, which is interesting, to say the least. Also, as the White House advisor and presidential daughter said a few days ago, she likes to “stay out of politics.”
