Teacher Fired for Defending Student from Bullies Calling Him N-Word, ‘Crackhead’

An Arizona teacher has lost her job after sticking up for a 9-year-old student who was being bullied by other students calling him the n-word, “crackhead,” and “monkey.”

Malachi Gillis was being harassed by fellow students for a while, and both he and his mother have said that no one at the school bothered to step in.

Teacher Pam Aister stepped in one day, and told off the students bullying Gillis. As she recounts it, she told the other students just to quit bullying Gillis in her classroom. However, one of the parents complained and Aister ended up getting suspended for threatening these students.

Aister defended herself to the school district’s governing board this week, but they ended up voting to fire her.
