Ted Cruz Officially Renounces His Canadian Citizenship

After years of making his intentions clear about it, Senator Ted Cruz has finally, officially renounced his Canadian citizenship. Cruz received an official certification of renunciation this week and is now solely a citizen of the United States.

Cruz’s Canadian citizenship got some scrutiny last year, with questions about a birther controversy of his own. Cruz put out his birth certificate to clear the air and said last December he’d be renouncing his Canadian citizenship soon enough.

Well, now it’s done, and at the very least it might get Cruz to tamp down on the Justin Bieber jokes.
