Texas GOP Rep.: Bill Maher Targeting Me Is ‘Badge of Honor’
Bill Maher launched a “Flip a District” campaign this year to oust a sitting member of Congress, and last week he revealed the first two names in the bracket: Michael Grimm and Blake Farenthold. Farenthold, however, isn’t too bothered by Maher potentially targeting him. In a statement to Breitbart, Farenthold says, “I serve and answer to the Texans I represent – not the Hollywood elite.”
Farenthold (whom Maher referred to on his show as a perfect example of why he set up the campaign in the first place) doesn’t care if Maher ends up going after him, doing show in his district, and backing his opponent, and in fact considers it an honor he’s the subject of Maher’s jokes.
“It’s said that you can tell a lot about someone by who opposes them. In the case of liberal pundit Bill Maher–a man who called America’s actions cowardly in the wake of 9/11 and who mocked WWII veterans who wanted to visit the monument built in their honor–I wear his disapproval of me as a badge of honor.”
Over the next few weeks, Maher will be listing the other fourteen members of Congress on his list to eventually whittle down to one.
