‘That Just Sounds Weird’: Lil Wayne Dishes on Black Lives Matter
Last night Lil Wayne appeared on ABC’s Nightline. When reporter Lindsey Davis, asked him what he thinks of the Black Lives Matter movement, he asked, “What is it? What do you mean?” When Davis elaborated, the rapper said, “That just sounds weird, I don’t know, that you put a name on…it’s not a name, it’s not ‘whatever, whatever.’ It’s somebody got shot by a policeman for a f*cked up reason.”

He added, “I’m a young black rich motherf*cker. If that don’t let you know that America understands black lives matter these days, I don’t know what it is… Don’t come at me with that dumb sh*t, ma’am.”
When asked if he feels connected to the movement at all, he said, “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me.”
Lil Wayne has made controversial remarks on this issue before. In September, he told Skip Bayless, “I’ve never dealt with racism.” He received some backlash, but also some praise. Former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke lauded his comments.
