The View Reportedly Considers Dropping Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez
ABC is considering dropping panelists Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez from The View, Variety reports.
According to the magazine, corporate want the show’s news segments to “shift focus permanently toward more lighthearted celebrity fluff,” instead of the hard news stories that often come up. Executives are reportedly “underwhelmed” by Wallace and Perez’s contributions to those segments, and could drop one or both of them.
Ratings for the The View have been steadily dropping for years, especially after Barbara Walters departed the show in 2014. In recent years, CBS’ parallel woman-friendly daytime talk-show The Talk has begun to regularly beat ABC in the ratings.
The two panelists were only added to the show last September. Before joining The View, Perez worked as an actress, appearing in films such as Spike Lee‘s Do the Right Thing, and Wallace helped ruin run John McCain‘s 2008 presidential campaign.
