There Is a GoFundMe Set Up To ‘Protect’ Betty White From 2016

On Tuesday, following the death of beloved icon Carrie Fisher —
and, more broadly, the deaths of other beloved icons George Michael, Prince, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, Florence Henderson, Alan Rickman, Christina Grimmie, and heck, even Rob Ford — a South Carolinian man stepped up to make sure nothing happens to Betty White.

Well, he started a GoFundMe that is ostensibly about protecting her and in 2016, that’s pretty much how it’s done. Demetrios Hrysikos described his fundraising goal like this:

Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she’s okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan 1 , 2017. Now , assuming she doesn’t want a strange Greek standing gaurd outside her door all monies will be donated to the Spartanburg little theater to help craft new stars of stage and screen to carry mantle of the legends that have left is this year.

See, the whole thing is a clever, clicky front for a fundraiser that will benefit a local theater. Well played, Hrysikos.

As of this writing, the fundraiser had surpassed its $2000 goal by about $100, but you can follow along here to see how much more it raises:
