There Will Be a #BlackLivesMatter Course at Dartmouth

Protests over racial injustice in the cases of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and others culminated in a nationwide message that “black lives matter.” #BlackLivesMatter was a popular and powerful trend for months, and now there will be a college course at Dartmouth dedicated to discussing such issues.

The course, according to Dartmouth’s college paper, will be called “10 Weeks, 10 Professors: #BlackLivesMatter.” Several different professors will cover issues related to race, justice, inequality, etc., “in both a historical and modern context.”

One English professor involved with the course says they want to fuel a discussion about race in America, incorporating Ferguson and other recent events. Another professor said that they can “use Ferguson as a starting point for broadening the conversation about the national problems of inequality, race and violence.”
