Tit for Tat: Democratic Senator Teaches Trump a Lesson in Real Sarcasm
Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy seemed like he was in the mood to teach Donald Trump what sarcasm really is on Friday morning.
After Trump generated a new media firestorm by calling President Obama and Hillary Clinton the “founders of ISIS,” the Republican presidential nominee stated this morning that media once again couldn’t tell he was being sarcastic.
Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) “the founder” of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON’T GET SARCASM?

I love watching these poor, pathetic people (pundits) on television working so hard and so seriously to try and figure me out. They can’t!

Trump is still taking heat over the remarks, and Senator Murphy decided to jump in with his own snarky tweet:
What I’m looking for is a President who has a good sense of humor about ISIS, assassinations, and Russian cyber warfare.

Murphy’s tweet makes reference to several of Trump’s other recent flashpoints of controversy. Earlier this week, the Republican candidate said he was misunderstood when he implied that “Second Amendment people” could deal with Clinton if she tries to abolish gun rights (a position she doesn’t actually support).
Murphy’s tweet also made note of how the last time Trump said he was being “sarcastic,” it was when he seemingly suggested that Russian hackers ought to peruse Clinton’s private server to see whether there were any national secrets in her deleted emails.
