Trump Supporter, Confronted With Facts, Begins Shouting About ‘Liberal Media’ on CNN Panel
Speaking on a CNN panel Monday afternoon, Trump supporter Betsy McCaughey attempted to dismiss multiple reports about Donald Trump‘s lies by blaming the “liberal media.”
Clinton supporter Bakari Seller observed that lying frequently had been one of Trump’s most reliable tactics throughout the campaign. “Oh, please,” McCaughey retorted. “Hillary Clinton is the queen of lying!”
When her co-panelists noted that there had been multiple investigations and analyses into Trump’s far more frequent and numerous lies, McCaughey attempted to diffuse them by ascribing the reporting to the “liberal media.”
A PolitiFact analysis of nearly 400 statements by the two candidates found that while more than half of Clinton’s statements were true or mostly true, 70% of Trump’s statements were mostly false, false, or “pants on fire” (the most untruthful rating), and a paltry 5% were true.
The panel discussion followed an array of reports, from the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and Politico, which document Trump’s tendency to distort the truth much more so than his competitor.
