Screen Shot 2016-08-02 at 1.34.58 PMThe Turkish government continues to clean house in the wake of the failed coup on July 15. On Tuesday, the axe fell on the nation’s soccer program.

According to AFP, The Turkish Football Federation (TFF), which is government-operated, sacked 94 officers it believes had ties to the coup including “national and regional observers.”

Most notably, even some referees got red cards. Nationally-ranked refs and assistant refs were part of the mass dismissal, according to the TFF.

“Our federation deemed it necessary,” the TFF said of the firings.
