Twitter Reacts to Shocking ‘Fire And Fury’ North Korea Warning: ‘Trump Just Threatened to Nuke a Country’

President Donald Trump issued a terse, stunning statement on Tuesday — sharply escalating his administration’s rhetoric on North Korea.
“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Trump said. “They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
Twitter, as you might expect, had some comments following the President’s statement. Here’s a sampling of the reaction from politicians, journalists, and others:
We have the strongest military in the history of the world, and we should act like it. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

No joke: I read Trump’s statement on North Korea and thought it was a North Korean statement on Trump.

he announces a nuke threat vs north korea the same way a 5 year old announces I WON’T EAT PEAS. pic.twitter.com/gH8YamLl87

I believe Trump just threatened to nuke a country.

Fire and fury? Trump is out here sounding like he’s narrating a video game. Can we substitute an adult prez in times of nuclear threats?

Last summer I reported that Trump asked a foreign policy leader three times why the US had nuclear weapons if we couldn’t use them. https://t.co/w4JskMPNdl

Trump’s “fire and fury” comment is oddly similar to one by President Ryan in Tom Clancy’s Executive Orders. Speechwriter has a thesaurus?

This sounds like something North Korea would say. https://t.co/oXxHhRfNW9

I want to know if Kelly, Mattis, Tillerson, or McMaster knew what was going to come out of Trump’s mouth about North Korea
— Dan Pfeiffer (@danpfeiffer) August 8, 2017
Oh, that’s just great. Now I’ll be able to sleep peacefully tonight, knowing Trump has his finger on the nuclear button.

The President of the United States shouldn’t sound like Kim Jong Un. It antagonizes everyone while accomplishing nothing. https://t.co/MXsBRAc1Gd

Also, we thought we’d add these two throwback Tweets from the President himself:
Our President must be very careful with the 28 year old wack job in North Korea. At some point we may have to get very tough-blatant threats
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 6, 2013
Be prepared, there is a small chance that our horrendous leadership could unknowingly lead us into World War III.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 31, 2013
To which we’ll add:
2013 Trump tried to warn us about 2017 Trump. https://t.co/NtFH5yzrMH
