The epidemic of so-called “honor killings” in Pakistan continues, with the death of a 28-year-old English woman from Bradford who was murdered last month while visiting her family in Northern Punjab.

A forensics report indicated that Samia Shahid had died of strangulation, though the family initially told authorities in Pakistan that she had died of a heart attack. The BBC reports:

Syed Mukhtar Kazam believes his wife, who had gone to Pakistan to visit relatives, was killed because her family disapproved of their marriage.

He said that before she left, her family had threatened her life.
