WATCH: Bill Maher Reveals the Whole Atheist Thing Is an Act

Stephen Colbert isn’t really a blowhard conservative. And according to this new video from Funny or Die, Bill Maher isn’t really a raging atheist.

“Everybody in the business knows, I play an atheist,” Maher says, explaining that he only made his documentary Religulous “because that’s where the money was.” And when “stupid atheists” pay to see him do comedy all over the country, he says he gives the money directly to churches.

Maher goes on to reveal his personal experience with Jesus Christ when he was a child along with the real reason he’s friends with Ann Coulter: “We pray.”

Finally, asked if his obsession with smoking weed is also just an act, Maher answers, “No, I’m crazy. Not stupid.”
