Some shocking footage emerged from Florida this week when two lawmen and a good samaritan were injured while providing assistance at the site of a traffic accident.
Pasco County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Andrey Damian and Peter Knorr arrived on State Route 52 on Tuesday in response to a minor car crash that took place on the highway intersection. The two deputies were joined by Amanda Helmick, another driver who was already at the scene when she saw what happened, and pulled over in order to help the victims involved in the crash.
As Helmick and the two deputies were addressing the situation, Damian’s body camera filmed a pickup truck when it turned into the intersection at high speed. The pickup was hit by another truck, and the collision sent both vehicles careening towards the cars from the first accident.
The force of the impact created a domino effect that knocked Damian back while throwing Knorr and Helmick to the ground. Knorr’s hand was injured by the fall and Helmick was bruised around her shoulders and face.
Both deputies and Helmick went to the hospital after their ordeal, and Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco gave a statement about how thankful he was the injuries weren’t any worse. The sheriff’s office also put out a statement asking people to take greater care while driving on wet roads.
