WATCH: Full Video of Exchange Between Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Young Environmental Activists
By now you’ve probably seen the video of Senator Dianne Feinstein with young environmental activists from the Sunrise Movement asking her to support the Green New Deal.
The video shared to Twitter showed a snippet of the full exchange from the organization’s Facebook page, which you can watch above.
Feinstein spoke with the young activists for almost 15 minutes and defended her decision not to support the Green New Deal, sharing her own draft climate change resolution [PDF] instead.
After the full video was shared online, some on Twitter reacted by calling the clip unfair to Feinstein:
I certainly let my prior of Senator Feinstein drive my acceptance of the earlier edited clip, that was bad on me. She is certainly not a bold progressive, but she definitely treats the children very nicely, in the face of some hostility, in the full video. https://t.co/v4xBnkuhKY

I’m no fan of Feinstein, but when you watch the WHOLE video — not just the excerpt — of her meeting the climate change kids it’s actually a pretty nice visit, and Feinstein says she may even vote yes on the Green New Deal resolution. See thread below with the entire video. https://t.co/x41IKopcvk

1) I watched the whole Dianne Feinstein video, and I have to say, I'm baffled by the outrage.
I say this episode was a good thing.
Yes, she was at times cantankerous and a bit dismissive of the legitimate political aspirations of these children and their parents.

Whoever edited the video had an agenda different from passing legislation. They wanted to embarrass the Senator despite what she actually said.
Pretty shitty. https://t.co/EIAoVAZuyO

Illuminating thread. Besides one real moment of irritation, more with one of the adults than the kids, DiFi is patient and civil and genuinely tries to explain how politics in the real world works https://t.co/CvSy4yprWq

The Sunrise Movement responded late last night saying the full video does not make Feinstein look any less condescending:
BREAKING: kids ask Senator reasonable question.
NEXT: Senator condescends kids.
FOLLOWING: Others watch 15 min video of condescension, decide it’s horrible, edit to 2 minutes so it can be tweeted.
NOW: Sunrise uses children as pawns & edits videos to serve Russian agenda?

15 minute video (horrible): https://t.co/g3mIR8qlqp
Our edit (shorter, still horrible): https://t.co/bML8YobSiUWe are hiding nothing, and our only agenda is stopping climate change and creating millions of good jobs in the process.
