WATCH LIVE: Sarah Sanders Holds White House Press Briefing Amid Trump’s Feud With the Eagles
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing today to discuss President Donald Trump’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
There’s a very high probability Sanders will be asked about Trump’s decision to disinvite the Philadelphia Eagles from the White House in order to turn their Super Bowl victory bash into a “celebration of America” event. The White House is accusing the team of “abandoning their fans” by rejecting their invitations, and they also slammed the Eagles for expressing support to NFL colleagues who kneeled during the national anthem last season to protest racial injustice.
It’s worth noting that even though Trump-world claims the rescinded invite stems from a disagreement over the protests during the anthem, the fact is that no member of the Super Bowl champs knelt during the anthem during the 2017 season.
Sanders will also probably face more questions today about the White House’s changing stories on Donald Trump Jr.‘s meeting in 2016 with a Kremlin lawyer. Trump’s legal team contradicted the White House’s previous claims yesterday by saying that the president really was responsible for the administration’s initial, misleading statement about the meeting’s purpose. Sanders was confronted on this matter yesterday, but ended up facing a great deal of criticism for blatantly dodging questions about whether she lied to reporters.
Other subjects that might come up include Rudy Giuliani‘s latest media statements, upcoming negotiations with North Korea, and the possibility that Trump’s new tariffs could lead to trade wars.
