WATCH: Macron Calls Trump From NYC Sidewalk After Getting Stuck Behind President’s Motorcade

French President Emmanuel Macron called President Donald Trump directly to jokingly ask him to “clear the road” after getting trapped behind New York City road closures caused by his U.S. counterpart’s passing motorcade.

Macron, in town for the 80th UN General Assembly, was en route to the French Embassy when police halted his car.

Viral footage shows Macron stepping out to ask a police officer what’s going on.

After the officer explains that Trump’s motorcade is set to pass through, the French president pulls out his phone to ring Trump himself.

“How are you? Guess what happened? I’m waiting in the street because everything is closed for you,” Macron was heard saying in a video.

“Clear the road,” he jokingly demanded.

Rather than wait, Macron reportedly set off on foot, strolling through Manhattan for half an hour while keeping up his call with Trump. The French leader posed for photos with passersby.
