WATCH: Pomeranian Fearlessly Chases Away Bear That Wanders Into Family Home

A Pomeranian named Scout proved the ultimate watchdog on Monday when he chased off a bear that wandered into the pet’s Vancouver home.

A video of the event, captured by security cameras, shows a small black bear casually entering and exploring a Canadian home through an open door. The dog’s owner, Kayla Kleine, wrote on TikTok that the bear was eating her dog’s food before being discovered by Scout.

Upon seeing the bear, the tiny dog began to chase it, forcing the bear out back out of the open door. Scout wasn’t finished yet. He followed the bear out the door to make sure the job was done, barking all the while.

“He came sprinting around the corner, and I just saw the bear running out of our kitchen and he chased it out of the house. So then I grabbed some bear spray because I was like, ‘What am I gonna do?’ And ran to the backyard and he had already chased it up the fence and the bear was on the other side of the fence and he was just barking at it,” Kleine told Global News.

Klein said that while bears are a frequent occurrence in her area, she was surprised by Scout’s response.

“I was surprised but he’s also scary when he’s mad so I could see him going full speed at the bear,” said Klein. “He’s got a lot of personality… I was so proud of him; he was so brave.”
