Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker tweeted Wednesday that Trump’s announcement will create major jobs in Wisconsin, leaving press to believe it will be about Foxconn building a manufacturing plant in the state.
Foxconn is a Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company that is best known for assembling iPhones for Apple. In his interview with the Wall Street Journal Tuesday, Trump announced that the Apple CEO promised to build three manufacturing plants in the U.S. and said they are strongly considering Wisconsin for their first plant, but Apple has not released any statement to support this.
The Associate Press reported that Wisconsin state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos also confirmed that the announcement from Trump will be that Foxconn plans to build a manufacturing plant in Wisconsin.
According to AP, just one Foxconn manufacturing plant could create tens of thousands of American jobs.
However, CNN money reported that Foxconn said “it is not currently possible to confirm the locations for those potential investments or estimate the number of jobs that might be created.”
Foxconn currently employs hundreds of thousands of employees in China, but it has been the goal of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus to bring Foxconn jobs to America by building a plant here, which aligns with the President’s “Make America Great Again” and “Buy American, Hire American” agendas.
