WATCH: When George H.W. Bush Invited His SNL Doppleganger Dana Carvey to the White House

Among the many memories being shared of former President George H.W. Bush today is the time when he invited his own SNL doppleganger to the White House.

Dana Carvey did a hilarious take on Bush Sr. during his run on Saturday Night Live, and after Bush lost the 1992 election to Bill Clinton, he reached out to Carvey to join them at the White House Christmas party for some fun.

As you can see in the C-SPAN video above, Carvey came out first when “Hail to the Chief” played and proceeded to have some fun at the President’s expense.

The President and First Lady eventually joined Carvey on stage, and Bush himself said, “The fact that we can laugh at each other is a very fundamental thing.”
