The White House Correspondents Association has released a statement responding to Donald Trump‘s decision to revoke the Washington Post‘s access, blasting the presumptive GOP nominee for attempting to “disown the principles of the First Amendment.”
“”The White House Correspondents’ Association stands with the Washington Post,” begins a statement released Tuesday morning signed by Wall Street Journal reporter and WHCA President Carol Lee.

Trump revoked the Washington Post‘s press access on Monday after he was unhappy with one of their headlines.
The Post‘s Executive Editor Marty Baron responded in a statement, “Donald Trump’s decision to revoke The Washington Post’s press credentials is nothing less than a repudiation of the role of a free and independent press. When coverage doesn’t correspond to what the candidate wants it to be, then a news organization is banished.”
