Woman Sues House of Representatives Because Staffer’s Dog Bit Her

A West Virginia woman is filing a lawsuit against the House of Representatives over a staffer’s dog biting her when she was outside one congressman’s office two years ago this month. In the lawsuit, obtained by The Washington Post, Elizabeth Crawford alleges the House was negligent in allowing Chris Tudor, a staffer working for Republican Congressman Tom McClintock, to let his dog in the building.

Crawford was invited to McClintock’s office in January 2013, and when she reached down to pick up the pen she dropped, a dog named “Who Dey” (yes, that is its name) bit her finger.

The lawsuit notes Who Dey “did not have current rabies vaccinations” and that Crawford “has incurred medical expenses attempting to cure herself of such injuries, and her normal and social recreational activities have been curtailed.”

Crawford is going after both Tudor and the House for negligence and is suing for $200,000 plus interest in damages.
