Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) slammed former Vice President Mike Pence for attacking President Joe Biden over his response to the attacks on Israel Saturday by Hamas.
Hamas militants attacked Israel shooting missiles into towns and executing civilians, resulting in the deaths of 200 in Gaza and 100 Israeli civilians. During a televised address on Saturday, Biden reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to standby Israel, calling the attacks “appalling.”
However, Republican presidential candidates such as Mike Pence have claimed Biden “projects weakness” by kowtowing to Iran, who provides bankrolls Hamas. Murphy took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to call out Pence for “partisan hackery” amid the ongoing military conflict.
“This is partisan hackery at a time when we need statesmanship. Really bad faith,” Murphy wrote to his followers. “Trying to win cheap political points by shifting the blame away from the terrorists is a gift to Hamas right now.”

The conflict initiated by Hamas on Saturday represented the largest attack on Israel in decades, resulting in the invasion multiple towns near Gaza.
Other candidates such as former President Donald Trump released a statement bragging about bringing peace to the region Abraham Accords while blaming Biden for the current violence.
One of the main points Republicans have used against Biden is the $6 billion given back to Iran during a prisoner exchange last month. However, that money is currently frozen in due to U.S. sanctions.
