‘Aged About as Well as Joe Biden’: Democrats Brutally Mocked for X Post on Anniversary of Infamous Debate Debacle

Social media users brutally roasted Democrats on X Friday, re-sharing a victory message one year later on the anniversary of the infamous debate that was the turning point in the 2024 election leading to the withdrawal of then-President Joe Biden.
The Democrats on X posted a photo on June 27, 2024 of a smiling Biden, declaring him the winner of the presidential debate with now-President Donald Trump many say led to directly to the end of his reelection bid — and the eventual victory for and second presidency of Trump and his administration.
“The winner of tonight’s debate 😎” the official X account for the Democratic party posted that night after the disastrous debate which, at the time of the post, was already causing major panic on the left and elation on the right.
The post objectively did not age well – Biden was almost universally called the loser of the debate, including by reliably left outfits and publications, up to and including MSNBC.
On the anniversary of that obviously flawed post, it weas resurfaced on X to mock or lament, depending on the political perspective of the person re-sharing it.
“One year ago today… this aged well,” wrote the account for Senate Republicans, and the Republican Jewish Coalition added, “Happy 1-year anniversary, @TheDemocrats. 🇺🇸.”
“In retrospect, I think he lost,” said Sam Stein of The Bulwark and MSNBC. Joined by liberal writer Anthony LaMesa, calling the declaration a “Perfect example of how unseriously the Democratic Party took the election and the threat of a second Trump term.”
There were so, so many more from both sides of the aisle, including conservative writer and commentator Steve Guest, formerly with the RNC, who wrote “This post aged about as well as Joe Biden has” in his retweet.
It’s hard to see it in any way other than as an historically bad take, whether they had any other option but to claim victory at the time or not. And perhaps it constitutes a commentary on politics and the meaninglessness of such claims in the first place.
