Biden Democratic Challenger Snaps at Reporters: ‘You’re Not Asking the Questions That Americans Give a Sh*t About!’

Biden Democratic primary challenger Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) got testy with reporters in New Hampshire this week for repeatedly asking him about how he’s influencing the 2024 race, and not asking the questions he believes Americans really care about.

“I’ve said this 18,000 times; I’m only doing this to defeat Donald Trump,” an agitated Phillips told CBS News. He continued:

Nobody seems to want to do that in the Democratic Party right now, other than me, because Joe Biden can’t, is my proposition, because the data says he can’t. No one in the country cares. In fact, most of the people in the country are going to the Trump rally right now because he’s listening to them. No one’s asking about this stuff. I’m just frustrated. I hope you understand why I’m getting tired of it. You’re doing your jobs, but you’re not asking the questions that Americans give a shit about!

CNN reported that Phillips originally launched his long-shot campaign, “saying he wanted to ‘strengthen’ President Joe Biden. He talked about not wanting to ‘demean’ or ‘diminish’ the president. He said he wanted to be a mainstream voice, making a broad appeal for a new generation wanting change.”

But those goals seem to have changed with Phillips’ arrival in New Hampshire, where he’s spent his time criticizing Biden for skipping the Granite State altogether over a dispute with the Democratic National Committee’s 2024 nominating calendar.

As part of his strategy shakeup, the Phillips campaign “unveiled a new website titled, ‘Not in New Hampshire,’ that asks voters not to write in Biden on the ballot because he ‘wrote you off.’ There’s also a TV ad, backed by $300,000 buy, that shows Big Foot — yes, really — looking for Biden in the state,” Politico reported.

Several months ago, Phillips told CNN’s Smerconish that he’s not just running against Biden, but the whole DNC.

“Now, I’ve got the Democratic National Committee competing against me, an extraordinarily large machine. Of course, it’s rigged against any challenger candidate under any circumstance.”

Polling released by CNN and the University of New Hampshire showed that 63 percent of likely Democrat primary voters planned to write in Biden’s name. “Meanwhile, 10 percent said they’d support Phillips and 9 percent said they’d back [Marianne] Williamson. An additional 11 percent said they’d cast their ballots for someone else. The sample of Democratic voters included 838 respondents with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 points. ”
