‘Don’t!’ Biden Tells Iran Not to Attack Israel, But Warns Strike Is Likely Coming ‘Sooner Than Later’
President Joe Biden had a stern, one-word warning for Iran amid growing concern that the regime was imminently planning to strike Israel — “Don’t!”
Biden gave the warning after his virtual remarks Friday for the National Action Network Convention, which is headed by the Rev. Al Sharpton.
A reporter shouted a question about Iran:
REPORTER: How imminent do you think an attack on Israel is from Iran?
BIDEN: I don’t want to give secure information, but my expectation is sooner than later.
REPORTER: What is your message to Iran in this moment?
BIDEN: Don’t.
This isn’t the first time Biden has used the one-word warning for Iran. Last October on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley asked what Biden’s message was to Iran and Hezbollah, which is at the Northern border with Israel.
“Don’t. Don’t, don’t, don’t,” Biden answered.
Pelley tried to clarify what Biden meant.
“Don’t come across the border? Don’t escalate this war?” he asked.
“That’s right,” said Biden.
Pelley then asked if Iran was “behind” the attacks against Israel, but Biden answered that there’s no evidence of that yet.
Friday on Fox News, contributor and retired general Jack Keane gave his assessment of Iran’s military capabilities:
They have a weak air force. They have a weak Navy. They have a lot of troops under arms, but they are not particularly well-trained nor are they particularly well-equipped. What they do have is a lot of offensive missiles and drones. Iran knows that war with them would destroy their regime economically and also they would likely lose it. So the leverage has always been on the side of Israel, the United States, and the west but we absolutely refuse to use it.
The U.S. announced Friday that it was moving “assets” including troops to the region to bolster Israel and prevent a retaliatory strike by Iran. Iran is believed to be backing Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.
ABC News reported that the buildup was in response to Iran readying “a large number of missiles and drones for a potential strike against Israel, according to U.S. officials.”
“Two U.S. officials said that Iran has readied more than a hundred cruise missiles for a possible strike,” ABC News reported.
