White House spokesperson Andrew Bates mocked the RNC Research X account over a misleading clip of Joe Biden boarding a plane while greeting released prisoners from Russia.
Pro-Trump users on social media widely shared the clip showing Biden boarding the plane that brought Evan Gershkovich and other U.S. prisoners. Users suggested that the president was confused and believed the plane was Air Force One.
“Kamala watches Biden shuffle aimlessly across the tarmac and nearly trip up the stairs of the plane (from which the passengers had long disembarked),” The RNC Research account wrote on X. “This is the obvious decline Kamala covered up in her thirst for power — the scandal of the century.”
As previously reported, the president was simply entering the plane to greet others on the plane who had not yet deboarded following the exit of the prisoners freed from the exchange with Russia. According to Bates, Biden personally thanked the flight crew for bringing the prisoners back home safely.
Bates responded to the RNC account by noting, “@POTUS was personally thanking the flight crew who brought these brave individuals home to their families. Most Americans are putting partisanship aside to welcome this outstanding news for our country.”
