Elon Musk Drops Nuke on Trump: He’s ‘In the Epstein Files’ — That’s Why ‘They Have Not Been Made Public’

Elon Musk and President Donald Trump both pulled no punches on Thursday in launching scathing attacks on one another as their very public breakup escalated. After a wild back-and-forth, which saw Trump threaten to end Musk’s federal contracts and Musk repeatedly accusing Trump of changing positions, Musk wrote, it’s “time to drop the really big bomb.”
“@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” declared the Tesla billionaire. The “Epstein Files” refer to the long-held conspiracy theory that the government has a secret record of everyone who engaged in illicit behavior with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein — who killed himself in jail.
Trump repeatedly promised on the campaign trail to release the files when he took office, a promise that Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have yet to fulfill — at least as far as many MAGA conspiracy theorists are concerned. In recent weeks, both Patel and his deputy, Dan Bongino, have publicly stated that they no longer believe in many of the conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein, namely that he was murdered to keep him silent.
Musk began pulling away from Trump in recent weeks after saying he was “disappointed” with Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” budget bill, which he called out for having a “ MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK.”
During his attacks on Trump, Musk went so far as to suggest the creation of a new party. “Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?” Musk wrote on X, polling his followers with a “yes” and “no” reply option.
As of around 2 pm ET, 83% of the nearly 600,000 accounts that voted said they want a new political party. Earlier in the week, Musk went so far as to call for all but two House Republican members to be voted out of office. “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people,” he wrote, referring to everyone who voted for Trump’s budget.
