Ex-Fox News Host Eric Bolling Asks If Trump Will Punish Fox Over Its Polling: ‘As Detrimental As What CBS Is Doing’

Eric Bolling hammered his former employer, Fox News, while asking a question at the White House’s “new media” influencers briefing on Wednesday, going so far as to ask if President Donald Trump will sue Fox News over polls that don’t give Trump good news.

“Madam Press Secretary,” began Bolling, who left Fox in 2017.

Karoline Leavitt replied, “You can call me Karoline.”

Bolling went on to ask about Trump’s lawsuit against CBS News and asked, “Additionally, will the New York Times be enjoined in that lawsuit? Because the New York Times has already stated that they agree with CBS, and Trump has said, maybe we’re gonna sue the New York Times as well.”

“And as a follow-up to all this and it really does dovetail because it’s not just left-leaning media. Fox News. Fox News put out a poll. I’m a statistician. The poll they put out was wildly biased against President Trump. Will Fox sue Fox– Will Trump sue Fox for their methodology in polling?” Bolling asked.

Notably, the latest Fox News poll includes a partisan breakdown of those people who responded to their latest poll: 42% Democrats, 42% Republicans, and 16% Independents.

RealClearPolitics’ Tom Bevan hit back at recent criticism of Fox’s poll, noting its historic accuracy, “Fox News’s final national poll had Trump +2. He won by 1.5. That made it one of the most accurate national polls last cycle. ”

“Two great questions,” Leavitt replied and after slamming the media for its coverage of ex-President Joe Biden, added, “As for the lawsuit against CBS, the president and his legal team fully intend to carry this lawsuit forward.”

“The president put out a very strong statement in regard to that and fake news CBS this morning. And then as for the Fox News poll, the president is right. These are fake polls. They overpoll Democrats. They underpoll President Trump supporters. It’s always been the case for media polls. They consistently underestimate President Trump’s support amongst the public,” Leavitt said, adding:

That’s why we don’t really blink when we see them, to be honest with you. We’re staying focused on the mission and moving forward. The president knows everything he’s doing is exactly what he promised the American public he would do. And if you look at the key issues in the polling, the president is still ahead because Americans know he is delivering on them, on those issues for them. And if you look at the methodology, you’re right, they’re over-polling Democrats, under-polling Republicans, it’s a clear-cut case of fake polling, no doubt.

“If I may, also misinformation, though, right? And maybe as detrimental to the presidency as what CBS has done or the New York Times is doing,” Bolling replied.

“No doubt about it. The president’s spoken quite strongly about it and I know he’s made some phone calls to express his displeasure with it as well,” Leavitt concluded.

Fox News anchor John Roberts also recently defended the network’s polling after an on-air attack, “You might have been watching earlier when Stephen Miller joined us here on America Reports. He made a remark that was critical of our polling but here at Fox News we stand by our polling as we always have.”

Below is the Fox Poll explaining its methodology:

“Conducted April 18-21, 2025 under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News Poll includes interviews with a sample of 1,104 registered voters (RV) nationwide who were randomly selected from a national voter file,” notes the poll’s topline summary, which also includes the following table:
