‘He’s Extremely Sophisticated’: Marc Andreessen Heaps Praise on ‘World-Class’ Communicator Trump

Billionaire tech entrepreneur Marc Andreessen praised President-elect Donald Trump’s knowledge of business and energy on Tuesday, calling him “extremely sophisticated” and “world-class on real estate and communications.”

“My analysis would be he is world-class on real estate and on communications,” said Andreessen during an interview with the Hoover Institution. “He’s world-class on both which is like probably the first person in the world to be world-class on both of those things, right? The real estate industry is not historically known for its great communicators.”

Citing Trump’s history on The Apprentice, Andreessen added, “He very, very deeply understands business,” before declaring, “He is also one of the most successful business people, you know, of our time.”

Andreessen also went on to praise Trump’s knowledge of the energy industry, claiming, “He’s really good at wrapping his head around these things, I would say at energy. This is the other thing is, he’s now obviously been president for four years, so he’s learned about things to enormous depth.”

He concluded, “I’m not an energy guy, but my energy conversation with him, he’s extremely sophisticated. The energy people I know know that he’s sophisticated, so he wraps his head around these things, I think, very quickly.”

During the interview, Andreessen also noted how many of Trump’s nominees and officials were former Democrats.

“By the way, it is amazing how many members of the key Trump team are former Democrats, right?” he said. “Donald Trump is a former Democrat, Bobby Kennedy– you can write down the list. Tulsi Gabbard. You know, there’s a lot of these people, so there’s a broad-based phenomenon.”

While Andreessen supported Hillary Clinton for president against Trump in 2016, he publicly backed Trump during the 2024 election – donating to pro-Trump PACs and advising the president-elect on policy.
