Trump Claims ‘Employers of Millions of People’ Are Leaving New York Because of His Prosecution

Former President Donald Trump suggested on Thursday that “employers of millions of people” are leaving New York in protest over his ongoing hush money trial.

Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom on Thursday afternoon, Trump read a quote from Hudson Institute media fellow Jeremy Hunt, who said, “This is about one man, [Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg, who puts his political ambition over the rule of law and the judicial system.”

Trump then declared:

New York has got to do something about what’s happening because you look at Judge Engoron, you look at Judge Kaplan, what they’ve done, it’s disgraceful. Everyone’s laughing at the New York system and companies are leaving, people are leaving, but major companies with tremendous taxpayer dollars and employers of millions of people, literally. People are leaving, they’re taking their companies and they’re all watching this case.

A group of Trump’s surrogates, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), condemned Trump’s trial outside the courtroom in New York on Thursday, attacking Judge Juan Merchan and his daughter.

“You got a corrupt judge whose daughter is one of the leading fundraisers for the Democrat Party, having raised $100 million. That’s the judge’s daughter!” claimed Rep. Bob Good (R-VA). “This is a crooked sham trial.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) took aim at Stormy Daniels and key witness Michael Cohen, describing them as a “hooker” and a “felon,” respectively.
