President Donald Trump suggested MSNBC shouldn’t “even have a right” to broadcast in a Truth Social post reacting to a Mediaite story.

Trump took to Truth Social to react to a post on CNN reportedly planning hundreds of layoffs as part of their “restructuring” for Trump’s second term in the White House. NBC is also reportedly planning layoffs, though fewer than CNN, according to CNBC.

CNN is looking to lower overall production costs by moving productions, consolidating teams, and putting more of a focus and investment on their digital subscriptions.

The network restructuring and layoffs are part of a larger trend in media as a number of struggling outlets are adapting their business models to better fit consumers.

Trump has long been a vocal critic of both CNN and MSNBC, nicknaming the latter “MSDNC,” a nickname he kept going in his Wednesday post.

“MSDNC is even worse than CNN. They shouldn’t even have a right to broadcast — Only in America!” the president wrote.

There is a bit of a question mark over MSNBC’s future. The Wall Street Journal first reported late last year that Comcast is moving forward with a plan to spinoff a number of NBCUniversal cable TV networks, including MSNBC. The news led to close Trump ally Elon Musk joking that he may purchase the channel, asking, “how much does it cost?” in an X post.
