President Donald Trump condemned the “total disrespect” displayed by Democrats toward him during his joint address to Congress, Wednesday, protesting that they “didn’t even have the common courtesy to stand” for a child in the audience who had survived brain cancer.

“The Democrats should lose the Midterms based on their behavior at last night’s Joint Address to Congress,” wrote Trump in a post to Truth Social. “All Republicans must use their behavior on men in women’s sports, their very dangerous Open Border policy, High Energy and Taxes, and much else.”

He continued, “Also, Republicans should utilize the footage provided on the total disrespect they showed to all of those that were honored that night, including young ladies who were killed by illegal migrants, people with terminal cancer, etc. They didn’t even have the common courtesy to stand, smile, or applaud. This could be, on analyzing the full tape of this Historic Event, your full CAMPAIGN TO VICTORY!”

Trump concluded, “In other words, Republicans can take what happened last night, and win any Race in the Country. Good Luck!!!”

During his speech, House and Senate Democrats protested Trump with signs and refused to stand up or applause throughout.

Democrats in the audience received criticism from Republicans for refusing to stand even for honored guests, including the family of 22-year-old murder victim Laken Riley and a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor who was made an honorary member of the Secret Service.

Footage of the address showed that while some Democrats stood and applauded the guests, others maintained their protest.

“I was so disappointed that my Democratic colleagues couldn’t stand and show love for so many of the Americans that were recognized tonight. That was really heartbreaking to me,” said Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) following the address. “You have a little 13-year-old boy with brain cancer who has worked diligently to overcome that. And for him, when his dad lifted him up, for him to look out across that room and not to have everyone in there standing and cheering for him was heartbreaking.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) also condemned his Democratic colleagues for refusing “to stand for a young boy who is battling cancer,” while Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) said, “It was disgusting. The behavior was completely out of line with decorum. I think the fact that you had Democrats refusing to applaud for a child with cancer, refusing to applaud for the widow of a slain police officer, refusing to applaud for the mother of a victim of a crime who was murdered by an illegal immigrant – that speaks volumes.”

The Democratic Party’s protests also received criticism from liberals, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who described their efforts as “a sad cavalcade of self owns and unhinged petulance.”

“It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained,” he argued. “We’re becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to—and it may not be the winning message.”

MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend, meanwhile, likened the Democrats’ protest signs to “bingo” and observed that the stunt did not appear to be “landing.”
