BREAKING: Shots Reportedly Fired Outside Trump’s Golf Club as Former President Was Leaving

The Secret Service responded to a shooting which happened, according to a Trump spokesman, in the “vicinity” of former President Donald Trump on Sunday in West Palm Beach, FL.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” said Trump spokesman Steven Cheung in a statement.

According to The New York Post, two individuals shot at each other outside Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The shooters were reportedly directing the gunfire at each other and not the GOP nominee.

Sources told The Post that Trump was not in danger during the incident.

“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe,” said Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service, in a statement. “@pbso will have more details soon.”

The incident took place two months after Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania by Thomas Matthew Crooks. Two rally attendees were wounded while another was killed by the gunfire.

According to CNN, during the shooting on Sunday the former president was playing at his golf club. The course was immediately locked down after the gunfire was reported.

CNN’s Kristen Holmes and John Miller reported that officials believe the shots fired at  golf club were intended for former president. Miller reported that Secret Service exchanged gunfire with the man before the shooter fled.

In the area of the shooting, sources told CNN they recovered a backpack and a semi-automatic rifle along with a GoPro camera.
