‘Correction for the Ages’: New York Times Roasted For Trump Editor’s Note On Biden Story

The New York Times suffered slings and arrows on social media Saturday after issuing a correction about a “misidentified” Donald Trump in an article about President Joe Biden and the border.
The error in question was in an article published Friday about the current administration’s border policy, and was corrected on Saturday with a note that left some on X (formerly Twitter) laughing at the irony.
It said:
A correction was made on Jan. 26, 2024: An earlier version of this article misidentified Donald J. Trump. He is the former president, not the president.
In giving Trump a promotion (and in a way demoting Biden), the NYT drew some mocking and ribbing on social media.
The moment was highlighted by law professor Orrin Kerr in a post on X, in which he described it as a “correction for the ages.

With the former president and the president likely to be locked in another election battle this year, it’s not just ironic but invites jokes about bias as well as hopes for November.
Naturally reactions quickly piled up.
One respondent pointed out the Left’s contention that The Times has become too friendly with the GOP, calling it a “Freudian slip.”
do newspapers print Freudian slips?
Any good reason they're not covering Texas's rebellion?

Instead of "former president"
they could go with
"court adjudicated rapist."— hmmm889 (@hmmm889) January 27, 2024
Of course, MAGA World delights in referring to Trump as “president” and not “former president,” due to an insistence that the 2020 election was “rigged,” which it wasn’t.
A post from Saturday showed the practice remained alive and well, nearly four years after he lost the election to Joe Biden: “President Trump will rally supporters TODAY, Jan 27, in Las Vegas at 4 pm ET.”

Trump enjoys referring to himself as “your favorite president,” although he gave himself away during a 2022 Fox interview with Sean Hannity.
“Donald Trump referred to himself as ‘former’ president in a Fox News interview, then rapidly backtracked,”
